The Wiik That Was
So, after months of waiting, the Wii finally arrived last Sunday. Wii’ve had it for a wiik and wii are addicted to it. Wii Sports is an amazing game - provides workouts and gets everyone to get up from their chair and do some physical work. Zelda looks great and expansive. My limbs are tired from Wii Sports. And although I would rather go play some Wii Baseball, I must write this entry.
In case you’re wondering why I didn’t put up this post earlier, wonder no more. Every time I thought of writing this, I went off to play the Wii. I’m serious - this thing is addictive. And fun. But before I get to any more juicy details that you may or may not have read on the internets, here are some procurement and unboxing shots - just like I promised!
(As always, full res pix over on the gallery)

I’ll give you a minute to take everything in.
So, as I was saying, this console is the shiite. PS3 be damned, this one is hella fun. The Wiimote is fun to use and is pretty good at sensing your movements. Wii Sports is a great way to show off what the Wiimote can do. All the games are simple. For example, in baseball, you just swing when you bat and throw the ball when you pitch. Bowling is amazing! Tennis is a little hard but awesome fun. Boxing is a workout - no I mean it. You need to box with the Wiimote AND the nunchuck and it gives your arms a thorough workout. Golf is pretty hard and probably the worst of the bunch. Training mode lets you hone your skills while Fitness mode will give you incremental workouts everyday and chart your progress in terms of “fitness age.” After the first day, I’m 40. As you do better, your age decreases to about 20 - same as Brain Age did with your brain.
Wii Play will extend Wii Sports beyond the basic games we have now. Even more games and a Wiimote for $50 - that’s pretty freakin’ awesome. The Wii hooks up to the WiFi no problem, provided you have all the settings correct. It finds access points and you can easily connect - probably even easier than on a computer! Creating Miis is plenty fun and time-pass and so far, in addition to ourselves, we’ve created Miis for Hitler, John Lennon, Taye Diggs, Einstein (dubbed E=mc^2), and Charlie Brown among others. Up next are Gandhi and other famous people. My Mii totally looks like a bank robber. And I hold the Power Throw Bowling record with 590 pins. I’m also getting good with baseball and tennis. Good exercise I tells ya!
Anyway, I’ll stop my Wii praise here. It is a great console and a lot of fun. Gets people to hang out together and DO something that takes effort. No more sitting on a chair/couch and punching buttons. Although, a friend just got a 360 so we’ll be button mashing through Gears of War pretty soon. Till then!

Wonderful! Nice store that is. Happy Wii-ing.
